The article deals with changes of the lower reach of the Dyje River, South Moravia, caused by river engineering works. The study area was divided into five sections and studied with the help of graphic methods and morphometric characteristics derived from historical maps. The research shows a significant shortening of the Dyje, a decrease in sinuosity and a fluctuation in area and number of oxbow lakes (oxbows).
