The paper deals with the changes in the distribution of Czechoslovak industry since the end of the 18th century up to the present time. It studies the reasons of industrialization of individual areas, the influence on the distribution of population and urbanization processes. It evaluates not only the achievements of a long-term industrialization but also its negative consequences which we have not been able to get rid of so far.
