The paper treats of the geoecological aspects of the influence of nuclear power plants on the main components of the living environment, i. e. the natural components, such as soil, water sources, air and climate, organisms and their associations; the social-economic components, before all agriculture, water and forest economy, and finally population and cultural utility of the landscape. Much attention has been paid to the protection of the natural environment and natural complexes affected by the construction and operation of nuclear power plants.
