To the problem of age of the sediments in the Dyje River floodplain near Břeclav

Jan Krejčí

On the basis of some osteological finds, among others of recent Homo sapiens, the age of which has been determined as young Holocene, further on the basis of older palaeontological finds of Würm age, as well as from the geomorphological and palaeoclimatological conditions the author makes conclusions as to the geomorphological development of the floodplain of the river Dyje (southern Moravia) and of its tributaries from Pleistocene to Holocene. He concludes that the sedimentation of sandy gravel composing the floodplains in question proceeded continuously from Pleistocene to Holocene and was not caused by the changes of climate.
