The structure of settlements and distribution of industrialization process in the Czech Socialist Republic

Petr Šindler

The author analyses the influence of the structure of settlements on the development and distribution of industrialization process in the Czech Soc. Republic, and on the contrary, its influence on the structure of settlements. He notes differences between the regions (administrative units). The largest concentration of industrialization process and following concentration of population into the regional settlement agglomerations occures in the regions of North Bohemia, North Moravia and South Moravia, the smallest one in the region of South Bohemia. The author evaluates 641 building investments planned by the administration. In his opinion, too high percentage of investments in some regions is planned for the centres of local importance, while there are centres of district importance which have to get centres of industrialization process.
