The application of the biogeographical differentiation for the protection and creation of the landscape

Antonín Buček, Jan Lacina

In this paper the authors stress the necessity of the differentiation of the landscape according to what is caIled the groups of geobiocenes which are characterized by similar ecological conditions (geological substratum, relief, climatic, hydric and soil conditions), and have a similar functional potential. In this differentiation they start from the geobiocenologic school of Prof. A. Zlatník (1975) and B. Sočava (1978). They cite the principles of this differentiation and present some examples of its application in regional geographical studies curried out in the Geographical Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Brno.
