The relationship between the settlement structure and the road traffic
In this paper the author describes the method he applied in stating the dependence of the road traffic upon the location of the settlement in relationship to the road pattern, and upon the number of inhabitants living in the settlement. As a centre of road traffic he considers a dwelling centre where the dependence of intensity of the road traffic upon the number of inhahitants is greater than upon the location of the settlement in the road network. He applied his method in the area of the Czech Socialist Republic having divided the centres of road traffic into 36 theoretical types. The results of his work may be helpful in the construction and re-construction of the road network, especially in the planning of by passes.
