Solifluction forms on the western slope of the Kohoutovská vrchovina (Highland) near the town of Brno

Antonín Ivan

The author describes the periglacial phenomena discovered recently in the area under study, such as the nivation hollows, the protalus ramparts, and especially the solifluction forms (up to several hundreds of metres long, more than 100 m wide and up to 5 m thick in their front part), and the solifluction covers dating from the Young Würm. All areas rich in these phenomena favour landslides and soil creep, and therefore every anthropogenous interference requires great care.
