Geomorphological Changes in the Coal District of Ostrava and Karviná
The author deals with the series of geomorphological changes caused by the mining of coal in the mining district of Ostrava and Karviná, classifying them into sinks (depression basins) displacements, and creep-deformations (landslides, block-slips). The changes of the surface on the described territory of 10 sq.kms overpass by their scale and intensity all similar geomorphologic processes on any other territory of the same area in Czechoslovakia. The author speaks also about the economic consequences of those anthropomorphic influences in such a densily populated district, and about both employed and planned methods of sanation and recultivation.
