Josef Hůrský

Pecharova 9, 140 00 Praha 4 - Krč, Czechia

Professor Václav Švambera (1866-1939) was the founder of the Geographical Institute of the Charles University in Prague. With his publications "Travaux géographiques tchèques" and "Monumenta cartographica Bohemiae" he successfully propagated the Czech geography also in abroad. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death, one of his pupils reminds his personality apart from his scientific work because it was already described several times in this journal between 1936 and 1939.
