In the first part of our paper published in the Journal of the Czechoslovak Geographical Society, 93, 2, p. 103-115, we presented the definition of town and non-town communities in the Czechoslovak statistics. The present paper treats of basic characteristic features of towns and urban population, and the non-town or rural population according to the definition from 1983. From 180 studied coefficients the most important characteristics of this dichotomy have been chosen.
