The meteorological observatory in Klementinum, Prague celebrated its 210th anniversary of regular observations. The authors of this paper present a temperature characteristic of two severe winters, i. e. 1978/79 and 1984/85, and compare data from several climatological observatories, two of which are located in the centre of Prague, two on its outskirts. The investigation has shown the existence of an "island of higher temperature" in the centre of the town.
