In this article the authors present the method of automatic interpretation of surface water from the date of the multispectral scanner of the satellite LANDSAT - 3. The studied territory has shaped by surface minig activity. The fact leads to great space and time variability of surface water. The described method can be used for detection of surface water areas larger then 1 hectare.
