The intentions and results of research made by the Section of Geography of the Luther's University, Halle/Saale, GDR

In this article the author informs on the work of the Section of Geography at the university in Halle. This section was created by the unification of geographical instituts in Halle, Leipzig and partially in Jena after the reorganization of universities in the GDR in 1969. The intention was to concentrate the research to thems important not only for science, but also for economical practice. A special notice is devoted to the geological investigation of the landscape. As an example of that sort of maps a map of the Northern and Southern foot-hills of Krušné hory (Ore Mountains) can serve (Enclosure 1).
