Some mezo- and microforms of granite weathering and erosion in the Novobystřická vrchovina (highland)

Antonín Věžník

The highland of Novobystřická vrchovina (Southern Bohemia, the Czech Socialist Republic) is a part of the Central granite pluton (Moldanubicum). The author describes forms of granite weathering in that area as tors, oastle coppies, gigantic blocks, mushroom rocks and balanced boulders, as well as rock honeycombes, weather pits, tafoni and psedolapies. The cryogenic forms occur also in this area. Some of mentioned phenomena deserve to be protected.
