Some Geomorphological and Geological Aspects of Water Dam Building
The article is a review of the present knowledge of relations between geomorphological and geological processes on one side and dams and reservoirs on the other side. In the paper the author discusses 1) the problems of denudation in river basins in connection with silting of reservoirs, 2) the effects of dams on the course of fluvial processes both upstream and downstream of dams and 3) the endogenic aspects of dam building (isostatic adjustment and induced earthquakes). Not only practical but also theoretical importance of study of these problems is stressed.
