The article outlines the most frequent methods used for mapping of lakes of natural or anthropogenic origin. The methodology is based on outlooks used for more than one hundred years. Two ways of mapping of shorelines and subsequent bathymetric measurements are described. Processing of the obtained data and the final format and appurtenance of maps are described here as well.
